Furniture workers.

Presents the oral histories of three Mexican and Chicano union activists and one of their key Anglo radical allies. Their narratives document the job discrimination faced by Mexican workers in the industry, the organizing of Local 576 of the United Furniture Workers of America/CIO (UFWA), and the post-World War 2 attack on the Local and its expulsion from the union and takeover by Local 1010. The interviews were conducted by Luis Arroyo as part of the research for his dissertation "Industrial Unionism and the Los Angeles Furniture Industry, 1918-1954" (History, UCLA, 1979). At the present time, the complete oral histories are not available online and permission to access them must be granted by Professor Luis Arroyo (llaroyo@csulb.edu).
